Centering 9.8: Looks super clean on both sides. The front is maybe a hair to the right but well within top-tier standards, and the back is practically dead-on 50/50. Great eye appeal here. Corners 9: The front corners present well, but the back tells the story. The bottom-left corner has some definite softening and whitening brought to light in the close-up, which is what holds this back from a higher grade. Edges 9: The close-ups revealed some light but consistent whitening along the top and bottom back edges. It's the kind of thing you see on a lot of modern Panini cards, but enough to keep it out of the elite tier. Surface 9.5: A very clean front surface for a busy foil card like this XR, with no major print lines or scratches jumping out. The back is equally clean, a real plus for this card. This card's subgrades average out to 9.325, landing it squarely in our Gem Mint 9 category. Congratulations on a really sharp copy of Patrick Surtain's XR rookie; the centering gives it fantastic eye appeal, with only minor edge and corner wear on the back holding it back from that next tier.
